3DMark Vantage is the leading PC Benchmark for 3D
graphics when it comes to gaming. If you want to see how well your card is
running with DirectX10 games just let it run through 3DMark Vantage and see how
your scores compare to the rest of others with similar like setups.
The final score is an overall measure of the
system's 3D gaming abilities that is based off of real-time graphics and
processor tests. The programs is not just good for comparing performance levels
between complete full systems but it can be used to compare specific components
as well.
The highest level preset is Extreme which I ran at
1920 x 1200 (16:10) resolution with 4xAA (anti-aliasing) and 6xAF(anisotropy filtering). I
took the card through 3 runs and the average of the 3 is the one that I used.
Mind you they were all very close to one another.
The highest scores I got with the Radeon HD 4870
were in the mid 4000's on the Extreme Preset with both the CPU and GPU moderately overclocked.
