The 10,000 RPM VelociRaptor showing SATA connectors
The actual drive is only 2.5-inches and tightly secured in the IcePack for protection and cooling.
The 2.5-inch WD Velociraptor is enclosed in 3.5-inch enterprise-class mounting frame with a
built-in heat sink that keeps the drive extra cool when installed in a high performance desktop chassis.
The drive comes bundled with a quick install manual and 1 SATA connector for quick install.
Conclusion
Overall I was very impressed with this drive. Its seek and read times are by far much better than most drives on the market today. The speed of everything on my system has increased with this drive. Windows Vista boots much quicker and is ready to go in very little time. With my old drive I had to wait a little while for all my startup programs (Anti-Virus, Catalyst Control, etc) to populate but now they start up very quickly. One has to fork out more money for this drive (average price is around $299) but if you do decide to get it put the operating system on a partition with about 30 gigs and leave the other partition for your programs. One could go with 2 as well and set up a RAID 1 or 0 setup for even better performance. Either way you decided to go you will be impressed if you buy and install this drive.
